The Board of MLIT announced the result of the Placing and Offer for Subscription following the passing of the resolutions at the Extraordinary General meeting on 11th August 2006. Fairfax I.S. raised £9m on behalf of the Company.
Manchester & London Investment Trust plc (“MLIT”) is an investment company with a portfolio of investments, principally quoted on the London Stock Exchange, valued at approximately £37 million as at 14 July 2006.

The Investment Manager endeavours to construct a balanced portfolio of holdings with an emphasis on achieving absolute returns and providing a reasonable income. The current portfolio includes UK and overseas equities, property shares and money market deposits. The Board adopts a policy permitting investment in any particular sector of the stock market in both the UK and overseas.

The Company maintains a relatively small and focused portfolio seeking capital growth by investing the majority of its assets in a portfolio of approximately 15 to 25 securities.
